Football, but the players are cats and the ball is a ball of yarn.
Yarnball is a 2D online multiplayer football game built around a deliberately simple idea: take the fundamentals of football, throw in physics, cats, and a ridiculous amount of chaos, and see what happens.
The game is designed around short, competitive matches where positioning, timing, movement, and a little bit of improvisation matter. The cats aren’t meant to be serious footballers, they’re the excuse to make the game playful, expressive, and slightly unpredictable.
More than anything, Yarnball is an experiment in multiplayer game feel: how much personality, competition, and fun can emerge from a small set of mechanics?
Why is it Abandonded?
Well multiplayer… Its hard, I thought I could take on such a project after finishing 15 games but most of my previous projects were short unpolished demos, implementing multiplayer especially without knowing any networking basics that too in a period where AI wasn’t prevalent was hard.
You name it, I’ve probably tried it.
- Photon
- Mirror
- Fishnet
- Firebase
- Unity Netcode
So long story short: SKILL ISSUE.
I’m not sure, I might get back into it someday (not today). To better learn multiplayer, I started Strategis.
